Thanks for getting back to me. I wget'd that image and put it in the
root of my album at http://oblique.agrip.org.uk/photos/
If you go to that site, you should get the same results as I did; I have
included a few pictures of mine so you can see what effect I'm getting.

Just checked and there have been no errors sine way before I started
trying it again when writing this reply. The access log doesn't look
odd to me, either -- here's a snippet:

The permissions of all images and directories are like this:
ImageLib-test/
|-- [-rw-r--r-- 140361] Williams_College_wl.jpg
`-- [drwxr-xr-x 4096] space
|-- [-rw-r--r-- 86643] NorAmNeb_dd.gif
The files are owned by root:root.
I made sure I have the libimlib2 and libimlib2-dev packages installed,
too (the documentation for AG mentioned that the -dev package may be
useful).
